Man, what's the best way to get them out of there? They're actually more along the lines of 20ft+. Yeah, it looks like they were going to build some housing back there but it's been sitting there for over 10 years.
I spoke the who I assume is the owner and he wants it all cleared out.

Yes, impossible to shatter. As suggested above, a gasoline powered abrasive cutoff saw, with metal blades is the way to cut them.

Again, from the US Pipe website, the brochure for that type: http://www.uspipe.com/Files/20118238...int%20Pipe.pdf

It looks like 8" from the pictures. Probably 18' lengths. Scroll down through the publication I linked there, and you'll find the weight given as 400 Lbs. per length, or 21.1 lbs/foot.

Insanely helpful, I appreciate it a lot. Looks like we could probably lift them up. that's still 10ft hanging off of the truck though. Would a ratchet snap cutter work on these?

I never tried one, but my guess would be no. The thing that makes ductile so useful for water line applications is the fact that it's not brittle, like cast iron. Rachet snaps work on cast iron and terra cotta pipe because they're brittle, and they do snap. Ductile doesn't.

My old man was with the city water department, and he once saw a demonstration at the factory. They pumped a length of ductile iron pipe up to about 150 lbs pressure, and dropped a heavy, edged object, kinda like a guillotine, on it, and the wall bent, but it didn't break.

Hi Backwell, I would try to find someone looking for this pipe to install , it is quite useful and pricey to purchase. I have installed quite a bit of it in high flow industrial irrigation systems. this stuff is very heavy for its diameter. The last pipeline I used this on was 60" diameter and weighed 9-10,000 lbs per joint. I dont know what these pipes your looking at weigh but be prepared to work moving them. Good luck , Bigjoshl .

I wouldn't know where to begin and the guy wants them gone. Should I just post on craigslist? What's a good price for each would you reckon?

Backwell, I really don't know about price, if you can find a weight per joint I would offer them at twice their scrap value and see what happens. In my area here I know several pipe suppliers and would talk to them about selling, you may have someone similar in your area. Whatever you do with these you are gonna make money, even if you just scrap them they are worth quite a bit just on weight alone. I hope you find what you need, Bigjoshl.

I've often wondered that same thing, Dee. And feel the same way. I mean, what's the big deal? Seems to me that you'd want people to know where you are located. Right?????

I know lying is wrong, but if the elephant man came in now in a blouse with some make up on, and said, "How do I look?" Would you say, bearing in mind he's depressed and has respiratory problems, would you say, "Go and take that blusher off you mis-shapened elephant tranny?" No. You'd say, "You look nice... John""
